They say that buying a home is one of the most important decisions you make in a lifetime, and it can be hard to know if you're making the right choice when you set out on your search. But from the first time we laid eyes on your house, we instantly knew that it was not only the perfect place for us to call home, but it also flooded our hearts with how it embodied all of the things that bring us joy in our life, and have made us who we are.

We have been together as a couple for more than twenty two years. We attended the same elementary school as kids and were high-school and college sweethearts, where we studied sculpture and film. We first lived together in a house in upstate New York that had a yard for a garden, a garage which doubled as a studio for our sculpture, and a front porch that allowed us to connect with the people in our community. Shortly after college we made the trip west and fell in love with Portland, and have made it our home base ever since.

Working in the design and film industry, our jobs have often given us the opportunity to travel, and due to that we haven’t lived in a house since the one in NY and have lived in a lot of open, urban spaces instead. But we have longed to get back into a house where we can grow our garden again, to cook meals for our friends and family, and have space to build things again.

Having become accustomed to open floor plans of loft living, we thought we would never find a home that would fit our style and lifestyle into the traditional house walls. But walking into your house was like looking into a mirror of that first house where we grew together as people and as a couple, and made an incredibly emotional impact that assured us that we needed to make your house our new home.

We were floored by the thoughtfully designed layout and how well crafted each and every detail is creating a stunning home.

As we walked through your house, every step and every detail brought a bigger smile to our face. Not just the big ticket items, though they are impressive enough, but the small details of how the home takes shape are equally impressive. You have designed a home that is genuinely unique but also keeps the integrity and charm of the original home. A near impossible task that you have done so skillfully, and that each design decision was made with care and an exquisite eye.

From the way the space flows overall, to how beautifully the light flows in from the skylights in the bedrooms, to the exposed wood beam that opens up the space, and how you’ve restored the gorgeous original porch out front with the rebuilt masonry stairs that lead the way.

The tasteful choice to keep the exposed brick chimney intact, which reminds us of our old exposed brick houses back east, is the perfect glimpse into the house's past and still marries perfectly with the gorgeous new stone floor in the bathroom.

In our line of work, we focus mainly on wood and metal fab, but after trying our hand at building some brick pizza ovens recently, we know that all of that masonry work is truly a labor of love!

We design and build most of our own furniture, and for the first time ever we saw a space that looks like it was made for our oversized dining room table that we built for large family gatherings. Until that moment, we had thought we would have to give up that table and all of the memories we have made at it, but were given new hope that your home could not only just fit the table and chairs, but would serve as a wonderful place to start creating new family memories for years to come.

Our community has always been everything to us. We’ve always made it a priority even when it has been geographically difficult, so we could not be more excited for the space both inside and out to host our friends and family.

In short, we see in your home a reflection of ourselves and our life. We are so grateful for all that you have done to create such a special place, and it would be an absolute honor to be able to carry on what you have created and care for it for years to come.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!
